Future Lab(s) Gallery, in collaboration with Assets for Artists (A4A), proudly presents the opening of the 2024 & 2025 North Berkshire Capacity-Building Program Artist Exhibition. This First Friday event brings together the work of 20 dynamic artists who were selected as grant recipients through a competitive process that recognizes creative excellence and a commitment to building sustainable art practices in our region.
Supported by Assets for Artists—a program of MASS MoCA—these artists have spent the past year engaging in professional development, peer exchange, and creative growth, culminating in a powerful show that spans visual art, writing, sculpture, ceramics, social practice, photography, installation, and music.
Curated by Anna Salmeron, an artist whose work celebrates playful disruption and layered visual storytelling; Sonia Domkarova, a multidisciplinary artist and organizer whose practice often weaves together social commentary and collective experience.
As part of the opening night celebration, step into Installation Space for a live concert by Nick of Swords and Veerys (Abigail Dustin). Their experimental electronic performance invites us to feel grounded and vulnerable in a world full of uncertainty, blending songcraft and sound design to bend the edges of traditional music.
Local artist Landon Marchand provides the visual source material—videos of daily rituals, pigment-making, snowy drives, circles, and fleeting moments of ordinary life. Pamela Hersch will mix and transform these visuals live, responding in real time to the music to create an immersive, dreamlike layer to the performance.
Installation Space 7-9 pm.
